THE CONNECTION TO THE BRESCIAN REGION

Brescia and the Automotive Industry

Tecnofor operates within a network of companies situated in northern Italy, in the province of Brescia: the most important province in Italy for the automotive sector, both numerically and financially. This very rich and highly industrialised area is historically connected to the production and machining of metals, with a high level of specialisation.

We offer our clients the opportunity to benefit from the vision, experience, and tradition of companies that, over the years, have made a name for themselves thanks to their passion, ethics, ability to innovate, and constant drive for improvement.

THE POWER OF THE NETWORK

Thanks to its cooperation with companies in the network, Tecnofor offers a complete, flexible, and 100% customised service. The production process is able to adapt its machinery to the most various products, in terms of both materials and the number of pieces per order.

Tecnofor’s headquarters are located in Brescia, the Italian province known for its automotive manufacturing, with more than €7 billion in revenue. Major car manufacturers have recognised the strategic advantage that our province (and more generally Lombardy’s provinces) offers, appointing representatives dedicated specifically to this area which is particularly specialised in casting processes and the machining of metals in general.

  • Supply of raw materials in ingots or bars:
internally, from companies in the Metallurgica San Marco and Forelli Foundries Group
  • Mechanical feasibility studies:
conducted internally by Tecnofor’s Technical Department
  • Mechanical machining operations through transfer technologies, work centres, and lathes:
    Tecnfor internal production
  • Identification and traceability label:
carried out internally by Tecnofor and required of subcontractors
  • Ancillary activities like line washing, inspections and leak tests, mounting and assembly:
washing, inspections, and leak tests are performed internally, mounting and assembly are performed both internally and externally, surface treatments (galvanic, cataphoresis, etc.) are performed by external subcontractors with long-standing partnerships
  • Storage of materials, logistics, packaging, and shipment:
    internal organisation

PLANNING THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

Thanks to our Group’s interdisciplinary expertise, we design customised tools for both the construction of our products and the construction of the machinery and equipment used to produce them, in particular moulds and hydraulic clamping equipment for CNC, transfer, and lathe machines. Experience allows us to support clients in the research and development phase and, subsequently, during production. This know-how is available to our clients, who can appreciate our work based on consistently complete and accurate information.

Today Tecnofor is specialised in precision mechanical machining processes for the automotive and thermal-hydraulic industries, with specific expertise in the production of automotive components for powertrains (a variety of products and components for the powertrain and transmission of cars and commercial vehicles) and body in white (highly technological solutions for the automotive sector, in particular for the chassis and body).

THE TRANSFORMATION OF RAW MATERIALS AND THE CREATION OF UNREFINED PRODUCTS

The history of the Forelli Group began with the bronze foundry founded by the family patriarch, Pietro, in 1925. In addition to specific expertise with brass and bronze (in which Forelli Pietro was the absolute leader in terms of the number of alloys produced – more than 200), over time the company also acquired expertise with aluminium and lightweight alloys, which allowed Tecnofor to become one of the Gruppo Magna's primary suppliers of chassis components for its leading product, the historic Mercedes G Class off-road SUV, for which Tecnofor supplies the lower supporting crossbar of the motor.

SURFACE TREATMENTS

After mechanical machining and diamond machining, Tecnofor also handles the surface treatment required for spherical products, when in keeping with the client’s specific design. This involves nickel-chrome plating in 90% of cases, but can also take the form of thick chrome plating, “TEA” treatment (tin-cobalt), Tefloning, special washes, brushing/polishing, or treatments of pre-processed unrefined products (solubilisation, annealing).
